Kritika KamraKritika Kamra to participate in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

Popular television actress Kritika Kamra, who is currently hosting the second season of MTV Webbed, is preparing to set the stage on fire in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

Kritika says Jhalak came at the right time, as she’s taken a break from daily soaps and is in a “phase of exploring new things.”

“Also, Jhalak is one of the best dance reality shows, with a different format. I'll get to learn new styles of dancing.”

She’s not a trained dancer. “I am really excited to learn new dance forms from professional choreographers. My plan is to challenge myself and better my dancing skills.”

Currently she spends around five hours a day practicing, which will increase once the show starts. “Since I am not a trained dancer, I need more time to learn different forms. I am really enjoying the rehearsals.”

She follows no special diet.

“I am a big foodie and I can never diet. And where is the stamina to diet after the rehearsals?”

Who is likely to be her toughest competitor?

“This season we have a strong line-up of contestants. I know some of them like Mouni Roy, Pooja Bose, Shakti Mohan and Karan Tacker. But it’s too early to say anything at the moment.”

The actress has impressed viewers with her anchoring skills in MTV Webbed Season 2, which spreads awareness about cyber crimes.

“I could be myself and speak about social media issues concerning my generation. I could relate to it as I am tech-savvy. It’s important that people should be aware that things that can go wrong and should be careful about it,” she says about Webbed.

“With Jhalak I can show off my dancing skills! I’m enjoying this phase of my growth,” she smiles.

Her popular TV roles were in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and Kitani Mohabbat Hai.

“I did television shows continuously for five to six years. Doing a daily soap gets monotonous after a while. I wanted to try out other things as well,” she says.

With the MTV and Jhalak shows she has no time for anything else.

“Hats off to others who manage to shoot for a daily soap and also for a dance reality show. I would rather concentrate on one thing at a time.

“I will surely act again on television, but not now," she adds.

So what kept her busy during her break

“I went to Europe for a long holiday. I did a theatre workshop after I returned.

I did workouts and spent time with family and friends,” Kritika signs off.
