The most rocking disproportionate screen couples of Bollywood.

Movies sell perfection.

Characters look flawless in a sandstorm, behave ideally under provocative circumstances and achieve a happily-ever-after no matter how bumpy life’s rollercoaster is.

Looking good at all times is imperative in today’s gym-dictated scenario.

Preparing for a role doesn’t mean going over the script multiple times or researching a character but calling the best trainer in town to ‘look’ the part.

Thankfully emotions, reel or real, cannot be governed by Hrithik-Aishwarya’s body beautiful excellence.

And so here’s a look at the most rocking disproportionate screen couples of Bollywood.

Bhumi Pednekar-Ayushmann Khurrana, Dum Laga Ke Haisha

Love comes in all sizes,’ claims the tagline of Yash Raj Films’ latest endeavour, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, which pairs a lean Ayushmann Khurrana with newbie Bhumi Pednekar.

The latter’s plus size forms the crux of the promising rom-com.

Coming from a studio known to trend the size zero prototype, this is quite a shift.

Huma Qureshi-Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Gangs of Wasseypur

Not too long ago, Huma Qureshi appeared on the cover of Femina announcing, ‘My body my rules.’

Echoing those beliefs, the voluptuous star is least self conscious romancing one of our scrawniest heroes, Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur II.

Kunaal Roy Kapur-Kalki Koechlin, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is a bunch of contradictions.

On one hand, Deepika Padukone’s bespectacled geek grows up to be gorgeousness personified and evokes Ranbir Kapoor’s instant affection.

Whereas the petite Kalki Koechlin falls for a tubby Kunaal Roy Kapur proving love digs beyond the surface.

Guddi Maruti-Johnny Lever, Kasam

Overweight characters are often the butt of jokes in Hindi movies.

Here it’s the Laurel-Hardy distinction between Guddi Maruti and Johnny Lever that attempts to bring about some silly laughs in Umesh Mehra’s Kasam.

Sanjeev Kumar-Suchitra Sen, Aandhi

Sanjeev Kumar’s heavy drinking led to piling up several kilos but his talent kept him afloat.

Perhaps why we choose to overlook his paunch even as he serenades the slim Suchitra Sen to Tum aa gaye ho in Gulzar’s Aandhi.

Raakhee-Amitabh Bachchan, Bemisaal

Ever a foodie, Raakhee didn’t care to emulate her slender colleagues like Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi.

Yet somehow the sari-clad plump beauty never looked mismatched with the tall and lanky Amitabh Bachchan in the numerous films -- Kasme Vaade, Bemisaal, Trishul, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar -- they did together.

Raj Kapoor-Hema Malini, Sapno Ka Saudagar

At the end of his career as leading man, roly poly Raj Kapoor looked rather old and odd playing hero to his dainty co-star Hema Malini in the latter’s debut Sapno Ka Saudagar.

Shammi Kapoor-Hema Malini, Andaz

Shammi Kapoor was never a slim hero.

But by the time he got around to romancing the elfin Simi Garewal and Hema Malini in Ramesh Sippy’s Andaz, he had piled on serious weight.

Bhagwan-Geeta Bali, Albela

Just like Fred and Wilma of the classic cartoon Flintstones, chubby Bhagwan and chirpy Geeta Bali’s adorable chemistry in Albela produces a sense of mirth, pure mirth.

Tuntun-Johnny Walker, Mujrim

Nobody wore and threw her weight around like Tun Tun.

Especially around the twiggy Johnny Walker, ever the wimp and victim of her hefty dominance -- resulted in unforgettable, hilarious banter.
