With titles like Lalla Lalla Lori, Boat Ma Kukdookoo, Shakira and Chal Bhaag, you know what to expect from this short album of Welcome 2 Karachi.
Several composers and lyricists have worked on the soundtrack.
Rochak Kohli, whose Paani Da Rang (Vicky Donor) was very popular, comes up with something radical in Lalla Lalla Lori, which he has composed and written.
By roping in Vishal Dadlani and Shivi, he makes sure it’s a high energy outing.
The Hindi-Gujarati number Boat Ma Kukdookoo (Rochak Kohli with co-lyricist Ravi Singhal), is heard during a party on a boat.
Mika Singh is roped in to get all naughty as bikini-clad girls surround Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani.
This number is fun when you hear it, but has little recall value. Rochak joins Mika Singh, Shivi and Deane Sequeira behind the mike.
The remaining two numbers just pass muster. Jeet Ganguly’s Shakira, with lyrics by Kausar Munir and sung by Shalmali Kholgade, is forgettable.
Chal Bhaag, despite its catchy rhythm, suffers from poor lyrics.
Sameer, the architect of hundreds of romantic numbers, gets into the G.... Phaad mode for Chal Bhaag, which caters to the lowest denominator.
Though Amjad-Nadeem have composed an energetic tune that could pep up the narrative, and Wajid and Love Juneja complement that with their singing, there are some serious issues with the lyrics here.
