This was a week of controversies.

The social media went berserk debating issues that involved three Malayalis, who were in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Mammootty

Superstar Mammootty was at the centre of two controversies.

During a recent awards show for television artistes and technicians, he allegedly mocked them. There were protests from the fraternity. Mammootty was at the function for only a short while.

According to sources close to the star, he had not meant to insult anyone. Then, director Shaji Kailas's pronouncement that his recently announced project had to be shelved because Mammootty refused to do a film with Mohanlal, became big news.

Last heard, Shaji Kailas is said to have declared that he was misquoted.

Pratap Pothen

In a strongly worded Facebook post, veteran actor and director Pratap Pothen made a severe attack"on a mimicry artiste who became a star”.

He said that the star bought himself a Padma Shri and thinks he is a superstar. Pratap is angry that the star insulted the women of Tamil Nadu some time back. Pratap called the star a racist and uncouth.

From the description, the social media assumed that Pratap's target was actor Jayaram. However, after creating the controversy, Pratap removed his post.

But the harm was already done, and the social media is still busy discussing Pratap's remarks.

Rupesh Paul

Nobody knows the truth behind Rupesh Paul’s tall claims. Every year, he comes up with weird films with curious titles like The Temptation Between MY Legs and What the F….)

He is a regular at Cannes and some of his films are said to have got into the initial nominations list of the Oscars!

It’s almost a ritual for him to be controversial and the media laps it up and reports without proper research.

This year at Cannes, things got out of hand for Rupesh. He shared on his Facebook page that a French fan came to him and posed for photographs, topless.

Soon after, the French woman concerned said she had no clue who Rupesh was, but she was an activist.

She claimed that Rupesh came to her and asked if he could click a picture with her. And then the picture started an entirely new story.
