Anushman Jha and Rajat KapoorIn the multi-segmented multi-directorial X: Past Is Present, Aushuman Jha will play the younger version of actor-filmmaker Rajat Kapoor's character.

"I have grown up admiring Rajat Sir's work on stage," Anshuman says. "In fact, his play The Blue Mug was one of the first English plays I saw as a teenager before I trained with Barry John. In X: Past Is Present, we play a filmmaker named K."

Anshuman gets together with Rajat to create a life of a filmmaker whose relationships with various women in the past define his existence.

"The film describes the filmmaker's journey in life," Anshuman adds. "How the relationships with his women affect K's life and in turn the films he's made (is what the film is about). One night, he understands the sum-total of his relationships, thanks to this one girl."

Anshuman plays the character from age 16 to 30.

"I focused on voice modulation to gradually sound older. That was a challenge that I enjoyed," Anshuman says.

Apparently, there are a lot of steamy scenes between Anshuman and Huma Qureshi, who star in the segment directed by Raja Sen.

"X is my most emotionally and physically draining work as an actor on celluloid," he says. "It's an exciting cinematic experiment and hats off to producer Manish Mundra for backing it."
