Actress Pratyusha Banerjee, of Baliku Vadhu fame, committed suicide on Friday. Rajul Hegde/ Rediff.com reports.

Actress Pratyusha Banerjee, known for her portrayal of Anandi in the television show Balika Vadhu, committed suicide on Friday.

Her last status message on Whatsapp read, 'Mar ke bhi tujhse muh na modna' (I won’t be turning my face away from you even after death.

The 24-year-old actress had attempted suicide in her house earlier on Friday by hanging herself. She was rushed to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai's suburban Andheri where she was pronounced dead.

She was dating actor Rahul Raj Singh and they were reportedly supposed to get married later this year.  They two had appeared on the recently-concluded reality show Power Couple, hosted by Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora.

Rahul  is under the scanner; he is the one who took her to the hospital.

An industry friend says that over the last few weeks, Pratyusha looked unhappy.

“We were told that Rahul was allegedly cheating on her. Apparently he was having an affair with a television actress. She came to know about it and had a fight with Rahul and was depressed,” says a source.

Banerjee, who rose to fame with her performance as Anandi was also part of shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, Bigg Boss 7 and Comedy Classes.

The police is investigating the probable cause that may have spurred Pratyusha to resort to take the extreme step. The investigating officer said, “She committed suicide at her Oshiwara residence. Her body was found by her boyfriend and her cook. The investigation is still on and we haven’t’ found any suicide note.”

A dual postmortem is expected, since the family suspect a foul play.
