Nil Battey Sannata

In a first-of-its-kind move, Eros International, Colour Yellow Productions and Jar Pictures’ Nil Battey Sannata will have its Hindi and Tamil release on the same day.

Swara Bhaskar and Ratna Pathak Shah star in the Hindi version whereas Amala and Revathi feature in the Tamil remake which is titled Amma Kanakku.

Reportedly, Aanand L Rai, who has produced both versions, decided to release Nil Battey Sannata and Amma Kanakku on the same day after discussing the matter with Dhanush. The south superstar has co-produced Amma Kanakku.

Says a source, "We have seen remakes of films releasing after a considerable gap from the release of the original film. There have also been bi-linguals shot at the same location and time, however, these two films adapt to two different cultures for the same storyline."

"The original, shot in Agra has the quintessential North flavour, whereas the remake adapts the story into a south India setup and has been shot in Chennai."

Both films will release on April 22.
