We've seen them emote on screen. Now, how about we listen to them sing? Yes, we're talking about the actors from Malayalam films who have crooned their way to glory with some nice songs.
Meghna George takes a look at five who have perhaps made the most impact.
Mohanlal
The versatile genius, Mohanlal, is known for his singing prowess for quite some time now. His songs like Karu karu karuthoru pennanu... from Balettan and the recent Annarakkanna vaa... from Blessy's Bhramaram have been received well by the audience.
He has sung for quite a number of films of his like Chithram and Aey Auto among others and in T K Rajeev Kumar's Kannezhuthi Pottum thottu, he sang the hit number Kaithappoovin..., though he did not act in the film!
Mammootty is known for his masculine voice and his dialogue delivery but not for his singing and dancing abilities unlike Mohanlal.
Yet he has tried his crooning talents in V M Vinu's Pallavoor Devanarayanan with the song Poliyo Poli...
More surprises are perhaps in store and the grapevine has it that he has sung a song for Shaji N Karun's forthcoming film, Kutty Sranku.
The hottest young hero of Malayalam films is the latest to join the group.
Prithviraj has sung the title song of his latest film, Puthiya Mugham, under the baton of composer Deepak Dev.

Mani has always been known as a gifted singer especially of the folk variety. In fact he was perhaps the one who made the folk songs or naadan paattu so popular in Malayalam.
He has released several albums of naadan paattu and devotional songs and they sell like hot cakes. Mani, who was a mimicry artist before movies happened, has sung several hit songs in various films.
His songs like Kuttanadan Kayalile... from Kazhcha, Sona Sona... from Ben Johnson and several others make him a much in demand singer-actor.
Though he has become a hero with Cycle and Makante Achan, Vineeth Sreenivasan is still better known as a singer.
He made his entry into films with Kilichundan Mambazham and got the big break with the song Karale karalinte karale... in Udayananu Tharam. In a short span of time, he became one of the most sought after names as a singer in Malayalam, lending his voice for every top hero.
He has several albums to his credit as well, including the hugely popular Coffee @ M G Road. Now, after making his presence felt as a hero, Vineeth is all set to make his debut as a director as well.
