Telugu film Anjaneyulu is not a mythological one though the title suggests otherwise. Nor has it anything to do with Hanuman either.

Anjaneyulu is a modern tale with the usual dose of action and comedy starring Ravi Teja and the sexy Nayantara.

The film, directed by Parasuram (of Yuvatha fame) and produced by Ganesh Babu, is slated for release on August 12.

With Ravi Teja in the film, Anjaneyulu is sure to tickle the funny bone. For he has the uncanny ability to do comedy roles and carry them off well.

And if Ravi Teja's there, then the movie will be for the masses too. Ravi Teja is one of those stars who does at least two-three movies a year.

He kicked off this summer with Kick, a smash hit where he starred with Ileana and Shaam (who made his debut in Telugu). This Surendar Reddy starrer was one of the few hits at the box office this year and is still running.

Nayan returns to Telugu after Kathanayakudu (where she was more famous for her dances, particularly the rain ones). Her previous film, Thulasi was with Venkatesh in 2007 where she had a meaningful role.

Nayan is said to have a substantial role in Anjaneyulu. As Kathanayakudu didn't fare well, Nayan must be pinning her hopes on Anjaneyulu to prop up her career in Telugu.

Director Parasuram's Yuvatha starring Nikhil (of Happy Days fame) had a decent opening at the box office.

Thaman S scores music for this film. Anjaneyulu's cast also comprises Prakash Raj, Brahmanandam, M S Narayana, Sayaji Shinde and Ahuti Prasad.

The art directors are setting new highs. Huge sets worth crores of rupees in the Telugu film industry are not new. One has seen them in Okkadu (Charminar), Arjun (Minakshi Temple), to name a few and of course in the recent Magadheera. Anjaneyulu too is said to have a set (of a corporate office) costing about Rs 75 lakhs.

The combination of Ravi Teja with Nayan is enough to make the audience curious. Ravi is also riding the success wave post- Kick. Will he be able to sustain it with Anjaneyulu? Let's wait and watch!
