A celebrity football match was organised on Independence Day between Salman Khan's Bollywood team and neta Baba Siddiqui's team of politicians. It was held at Supari Talao Grounds in Bandra, in the western suburb of Mumbai.
Salman's team had actors like his brother Sohail, Ranbir Kapoor, Dino Morea, Vatsal Seth and choreographer Ceaser (of Bosco-Ceaser fame). They played for a cause -- to support Salman's non-government organisation, Being Human.
Salman's sister Arpita was among those who came to cheer his team. His other sister Alvira, her husband Atul Agnihotri, and friend Mushtaq Shiekh supported the superstar as well.
Half-way through the match, Salman seemed to get tired and retired to the stands. He spent the rest of the match cheering his team.
Sohail was the first to score a goal. He celebrated by taking off his shirt, running across the ground and waving to the crowd.
Ranbir Kapoor, sporting his Rocket Singh beard, was all charged up during the game, as he sprinted with the ball.
Jackie Shroff, who had recently appeared Salman's show 10 Ka Dum along with Sanjay Dutt, also arrived to cheer for his friends.
Sanjay Dutt's sister and Congress MP Priya Dutt was the chief guest for the evening.
Salman seemed to shrugg off Shah Rukh Khan's two-hour detainment at Newark airport last Friday, as he said: "Isme kaunsi badi baat hai (what's the big deal?). Everybody goes through frisking. Because of a few Muslims, all Muslims have to face this kind of scrutiny. It is only because of such strong security, America hasn't had another 9/11."
A huge crowd had gathered to see their favourite stars on the football field.
In the end, the match was a tie, as the teams scored two goals each.
