He's our funny man.
Govinda's been around for a while and ruled the 90s with a spate of comedies, showing off a natural comic timing that catapults him right up there with the best of them.
His comic timing can be seen in his latest comedy Life Partner which released over the weekend. With that in mind, here's a look at his 10 funniest performances. The films might not have been great, but Govinda's at the top of his game through them all.
Raja Babu
Best remembered for Govinda's Michael Jackson impersonation, Raja Babu saw him and Shakti Kapoor engaged in some truly memorable shenanigans as the hero farcically hit on Karisma Kapoor. Obviously David Dhawan was behind the helm, and this 1994 film saw him in top slapstick form.
A remake of a Telugu film, Coolie No 1 again saw Govinda paired with Karisma, while Kader Khan and Shakti Kapoor pushed the limits of tolerance with their now-familiar routine.
The acting is weak all around, but this film is worth a watch only for Govinda and his truly phenomenal comic timing that saves the day.
This one saw Govinda and Sanjay Dutt as brothers, trying to woo Karisma Kapoor and Pooja Batra respectively.
The true highlight, however, lay in Govinda playing his own uncle and keeping an amorous Aruna Irani at bay. Looking like Zee TV head Subhash Goel, Govinda was unforgettable in the movie.
This one isn't the greatest of films, but definitely worth a mention since Govinda took the opportunity to completely outshine Amitabh Bachchan.
The duo starred together for the first time and Govinda, in top form, was startlingly candid as he ran rings around the Big B.
In arguably his funniest film, Govinda starred alongside Anil Kapoor as they competed for the affections of Juhi Chawla.
There was much tomfoolery in this David Dhawan film -- mostly by Johnny Lever, in one of his funniest roles -- and a fun plot by Anees Bazmee kept the film on track.
What most people don't know about this film is that it was NOT directed by David Dhawan.
Harmesh Malhotra helmed this 1998 comedy, and it was insanely memorable because of the way Govinda got onto Kader Khan's nerves. And who can forget the Govinda-Raveena Tandon dance, Ankhiyon Se Goli Maarein?
Yet another Govinda-Dhawan-Karisma film, this was a take on Rajesh Khanna's classic Bawarchi role as Govinda plays a servant who solves an entire family's problems.
Paresh Rawal, Satish Shah and Tiku Talsania have a blast hamming it up, and this is what really makes this movie work.
There really isn't much to recommend in this rather painful Liar Liar remake, except for Govinda at his absolute best.
He doesn't play the role like the awesome Jim Carrey but brings a slapstick-manic charm to the proceedings. It's not a film you expect to enjoy, but Govinda has a blast.
This Anees Bazmee film was shelved for many years and is only seen on cable television reruns, but despite the two-wives plotline that Govinda could do in his sleep, is chock-full of authentic, fantastically funny moments.
The actor rocks the part and seems to improvise all the humour, and it's pretty wow by the end of it.
This David Dhawan comedy sees Govinda mistakenly taking on two wives, absurd as that may sound. Thinking his wife Karisma is dead, the man marries Tabu only to run into Karisma again.
The rest of the film is about the actor fooling both wives and juggling lies, aided by friend Satish Kaushik. Much chaos.
