Aashiq Banaya Aapne
The film's title song made all the difference to Himesh's career. Now only did he become a craze but he also re-defined music. Even his nasal twang did not put off his huge fan base.
The film, starring Emraan Hashmi, Sonu Sood and Tanushree Dutta, was essentially just a platform to showcase Himesh's hit songs.
The song Aap Ki Kashish, also from Aashiq Banaya Aapne, was a huge hit among his fans as well.
Salman gave Himesh a break in Bandhan (1998), and introduced him to the world of Bollywood. Himesh returned the favour by giving the actor one of his most popular songs Tere Naam, in a film of the same name.
All the songs in this Satish Kaushik film went on to become hits, and contributed to its huge success at the box office.
The song Mann Ka Radio, featuring in Radio, is very different from the regular Himesh fare we've become used to. For starters, his nasal twang is missing. But fans loved it anyway, and the number is climbing up the charts.
Jaanemann is not only a fan favourite, it's also Himesh's personal favourite from Radio. Leading lady Sonia Sehgal especially loves this song too.
A slow number, this is a must listen.
Tanhaiyan, from Aap Kaa Surroor, is a sad number from the film. But Himesh might have been quite happy to see it rocking the music charts.
After Tere Naam, Salman and Himesh did nine films together, all releasing to various degrees of success. One of the films Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya saw the actor romance his girlfriend Katrina Kaif on screen on the song Just Chill.
Tadap was one of Himesh's last songs as a music director, after which he became an actor.
This song was the only good part of Ram Gopal Varma's 2007 horror Darling, which mostly scared audiences away from theatres.
