Television's biggest night
The Ninth Indian Television Academy awards held recently in Mumbai saw celebrities from both television and film world living it up on red carpet as well as on stage. Some of the celebrities sported red ribbons on their designer outfits in support of World AIDS Day, as the glittering event coincided with World AIDS Day, on December 1.
True to Bollywood style, actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif made a grand late entry to join celebrities like Mugda Godse, Amrita Rao, Shekhar Suman, Gulshan Grover, filmmakers Ramesh Sippy, Madhur Bhandarkar, David Dhawan and Anurag Basu, and singers Alka Yagnik and Mohit Chauhan to mention a few, at the event.
The hosts for the evening were Suneil Grover and Gaurav Gera in the garb of Auro and Paa (plugged from the Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan starrer Paa).
The show kicked off to a thunderous start with performances by Shaleen and Daljeet Kaur (Nach Baliye 4 winners) to the numbers Arre Jaa Re Hat Natkha, Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo and Roop Tera Mastana.

Salman, Alisha, Siddesh and Jai from Dance India Dance performed regional hits like Dhaga La Lagli Kalla, Chandralekha and Usne Bola Kem Chho.
Bidaai Jodie Parul Chauhan and Kinshuk Mahajan, and Uttaran jodi Rashmi Desai and Nandish Sandhu combined old style choreography with today's hits in the fusion segment. They were followed by Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh (Pavitra Rishta), who rocked to the title hip-hop number from Blue.

The winners were an eclectic bunch. Farah Khan -- who made her television debut recently with her talk show Tere Mere Beech Mein -- was awarded the Best Talk/ Chat Show award. The award was presented by her husband Shirish Kunder.
Hina Khan of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai bagged the Popular Actress of the Year award. Her co-star Karan Mehra bagged the Popular Actor of the Year award.
Bidaai, one of the most popular shows on TV, won big too. Producer of Yeh Rishat Kya Kehlata and Bidaai Rajan Shahi said, "I am very happy that Bidaai has won for the second time in a row. Last year it has won the best drama series and now it has won the best continuing drama show," he said.
The ITA Scroll of Honour (Entertainment 2009) was given to the Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani team of Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, director Rajkumar Santoshi and producer Ramesh Taurani.

Best Actor (Drama) Jury award was given to Ronit Roy for Bandini.
The GR8! Ensemble cast award was given to Uttaran.
Avika Gor was awarded the Best Child Artiste Award for Balika Vadhu.
Sonu Nigam got the award for the title song Dill Mil Gayee.
Colors bagged the popular Best Entertainment Channel award.
