Nagarjuna Akkineni's new film Kedi is one of the most awaited Telugu films, as the actor has not had a release this year. His last release was King, last December.

Early film stills of Kedi saw Nag with a pack of cards, and got the film enough curiosity. After considering various titles like Rummy, Mayagadu and Mosagadu, Kedi was finally chosen.

Kedi has been produced by D Sivaprasad Reddy (under the Kamakshi Kala Movies banner) and directed by debutante Kiran Kumar. It is likely to release in January, during Sankranti.

Nag looks dapper as usual in Kedi. Of late, he has been selective about his scripts and doing just about a film a year.

"The film starts in an entertaining way and ends on a serious note," Nag says, about his film.  His role is said to have many shades to it, not just a negative one as the title indicates.

Nag has an uncanny ability to spot talent (directors like Ram Gopal Varma and Krishnavamsi started their careers with him) and give newcomers a chance to prove themselves. This time, Nag has got Kiran Kumar, who used to write dialogues for the telly serial Yuva, to script and direct his film.

Kiran has experimented within the commercial format, and presents a different Nag. Sandeep Chowta (who has composed music for many Nag films) scores for Kedi too. The lyrics are penned by Chandra Bose and Krishna Chaitanya.

The film has been shot in Hyderabad, Goa and Greece. Sarvesh Murari handles the camera.

Mamta Mohandas and Linda play the two heroines in the film. Ankur of Slumdog Millionnaire fame is supposed to have grey shades in the film. The rest of the cast includes Sayaji Shinde, Akhilendra Mishra, Brahmanandam, Tanikella Bharani, Nirmal Pandey, Kelly Dorji and Harsha Vardhan.

Let's see how Nag charms the audience with Kedi next month.
