The best way to relax on a rainy afternoon is to spread out before the television set, a steaming cup of hot chocolate in one hand, and watch a feel-good film. You won't even need the hot pakoras to complete the picture.

Here's my pick of DVDs you can rent out for such delightful afternoons. Take a look:

Roja

Arvind Swamy and Madhoo's sweet romance in this film, enhanced by A R Rahman's spectacular music, makes this a must watch for romantic hearts.

The film also captures the best of India -- the grand snow-capped mountains of Kashmir to the quiet village-life of Kerala.

It's no wonder Mani Ratnam is one of the top directors of our country.

Andaz Apna Apna

Okay, so you may not always be in the mood for love. But there's always a need for laughs. And you will get lots of that in Rajkumar Santoshi's brilliant Andaz Apna Apna. It's the kind of film you will never tire of watching.

Aamir Khan and Salman Khan's terrific comedy and one-liners will have you in splits. And if that's not enough, we have a double dose of Paresh Rawal thrown in.

For once, Shakti Kapoor does not grate on your nerves. Instead, he makes an endearing Crime Master Gogo.

Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon complete the star cast.

When Harry Met Sally

When Harry Met Sally has been voted one of the best romantic films quite a few times. And not without reason. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan make a cute couple, as they squabble nonstop with each other at first, and then slowly fall in love.

When Harry Met Sally worked in Hindi as well, when Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji fell in love in Hum Tum. But nothing beats the original.

Jerry McGuire

We fell even more in love with Tom Cruise in Jerry McGuire, where he tried to balance his tough career as a sports manager with his new assistant and later wife, Renee Zellweger.

If you're in the minority who haven't seen the film already, don't miss the end, where Cruise tells how much he loves Renee, and that she 'completes' him. Must watch for romance buffs.

Bruce Springsteen's Secret Garden takes the film a couple of notches higher.

Lamhe

Lamhe is not the regular love story. But it is one very well told.

Anil Kapoor is shattered when he sees the love of his life, Sridevi, in love with another man (Deepak Malhotra). When she dies in a car accident, her daughter is raised by Kapoor's dai-ma (Waheeda Rahman). The daughter -- played by Sridevi again -- falls in love with the much older Anil Kapoor.

Lamhe is one of Yash Chopra's best movies. And the music -- by Shiv-Hari -- is just beautiful.
