With some well made family entertainers like Melepparambil Aanveedu, Kadinjool Kalyanam, Aniyan Bawa Chettan Bawa, Kottaram Veettile Appoottan, Ayalathe Adheham and Madhuchandralekha, Rajasenan has carved out a niche for himself in Malayalam cinema, as a director.
Now he is all set to start a new innings altogether, as the hero of his latest venture, Bharya Onnu Makkal Moonnu (One wife and three kids).
Sithara, who was away from Malayalam films for quite a while, plays his wife and the mother of three kids in the film.
"I have decided to face the camera besides directing this story, as the character that I am playing was of my age and built. I was hesitant initially but now I feel confident," Rajasenan says.
He plays Chandramohan, who is happily married to Lisamma (Sithara). After marrying a girl of his choice, Chandramohan decided to move out of his house.
His father, a retired police officer named Sachidanandan Thampi (Sivaji Guruvayur) had big dreams about him and was not happy when he didn't live up to them.
Rajasenan feels that acting is not entirely alien territory for him, as he used to enact scenes for actors. Four successful Malayalam directors, who have worked with him earlier -- Shafi, Mecartin, Sundar Das and Tulasi Das -- were present during the initial days to direct the sequences where he acted.
"That was a great experience for me and it made me more relaxed at the start of the film," says Rajasenan.
Sithara, who was noted in films like Mazhavilkkavadi, Jathakam, Chamayam and Puthu Puthu Arthangal (Tamil), has been concentrating mainly on Kannada films for a while. She was recently seen in I V Sasi's Vellathooval.
"When we contacted her for this role, she was happy to do it," says the director.
Chocolate boy of yesteryears, Rahman, plays Rajmohan, the younger brother of Chandramohan. Rahman was recently seen in Fazil's Moz & Cat and has also completed Pramod-Pappan's Malayalam film Musafir, with Mamta Mohandas.
"He is a successful businessman and of course, his father is really proud about him. But he has been really close to his elder brother all along and keeps that affection intact even after Chandramohan started staying in a different house. I just loved this story and wanted to be part of it, as it could happen in any household," says Rahman.
The rest of cast also includes Mukesh, Jagathy Sreekumar, Sindhu Menon, Kalpana and Sumithra.
Bharya Onnu Makkal Moonnu is being produced by Dubai based entrepreneur Alex, under the banner of Jini Cinema. Lyrics by Rajeev Alumkal have been set to tune by M Jayachandran.
