Leading ad film maker Abhinay Deo has turned to Bollywood, as he directs his first film, Delhi Belly starring Imran Khan. He is also rumoured to direct a film starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.
But filmi aspirations aside, Abhinay -- son of veteran actor Ramesh Deo -- is very clear about who the hottest faces are in the ad world today.
According to him, Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar more than make the cut.
"The only reason why these people are doing well in the ad world is because they are doing well in films or cricket," Abhinay reasons. "Endorsers know that these stars have a certain mass value. Masses identify with these stars and show an affinity towards them. So product companies make full use of this."
He elaborates on why these stars are so hot.
Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have a very international face. They do full justice to the products they endorse. And they are famous.
Ash has been here for ages, so it becomes a brand loyalty. Ash's loyalty to L'Oreal and Longines makes the brands do well. Katrina is fast catching up.
I love Abhishek Bachchan's Idea ad. He's spectacular in it, and has gone to the skin of the ad.
Ad filmmaking has changed off late. They have more mass appeal. And when you have Abhishek do such an ad that reaches the masses, it's sure to a big hit.
Both Shah Rukh and Priyanka Chopra endorse Tag Heuer. It's a very stylish ad. These are two actors I love and adore just for their choice of ads.
Apart from these stars, Tag Heuer has international brand ambassadors like Brad Pitt, Uma Thurman, Maria Sharapova and Leonardo DiCaprio.
