Stand-up comedian Vir Das is getting very serious about his acting career.
After being a part of Vikram Bhatt's forgettable Mumbai Salsa, Vir will now be seen in Aamir Khan's production Delhi Belly -- where he plays one of the leads with Imran Khan and Kunal Kapoor -- as well as Yash Raj Films' next, to be directed by Parmeet Sethi and starring Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
Patcy N talks to the actor about his movies.
Tell us about yourself.
I was born in Dehradhun, and lived in Africa for a while. I did my schooling in Shimla and Delhi and then went to America to learn drama for four years in Knox college, Illinois. I also studied in Harvard University for a year.
When you are studying in the US, you can take up two courses simultaneously. So I took up Economics and acting. My teacher saw that I was doing great in acting, so he suggested I take it up more seriously. He trained me for four years, and let me take up advance acting, playwriting, direction, set building, screen writing... everything I needed to know for acting.
