Jayaram is back to his winning ways and how!

He has returned to being a top star with three whopping hits during the last couple of months. If all these are not enough, he is doing a double role in a murder mystery, titled Rahasya Police, by hit duo S N Swami and K Madhu.

Veruthe Oru Bharya provided him with a great platform and there has been no looking back. Twenty 20 became a sensation and now, the hero has been blessed with magic at the box office again with Sathyan Anthikkad's Bhagyadevatha.

With hits there were also some misses in the form of Samastakeralam P O which bombed.

On Rahasya Police, director Madhu said, "This is a murder investigation story in my usual style, but the main difference is its rural backdrop. We have shot the film in Thodupuzha."

Madhu has directed films like Irupatham Noottandu (where the character Sagar Alias Jacky appeared for the first time) and the 'legendary' CBI Diarykurippu series.

In this era of SMS and e mails, when the suspense of the story will be known to the whole world just after the first show, Madhu is not worried. "It's the journey to the climax that is the highlight of my films and that is why they are being enjoyed even years after the release," he says.

According to script writer SN Swami, "the story begins with the ongoing  rivalry between two rich and influential landlords in the village -- Kaimal (Jagathy Sreekumar) and Parambath Raju (Ganeshkumar). That has been going on for several years now. Rajan, (the first role played by Jayaram) the sub inspector of the local police station, has a tough time dealing with their escapades.

"Meanwhile, there are four girls Maya (Samvritha Sunil), Bhadra (Mangala), Bhama (Ayilya) and Manikkutty (Shivani), who belongs to the village and are friends. The whole issue takes a curious turn when Bhadra is found murdered one day. Raju is indicted in the crime and the cops nab him, as per the statements of some. Soon a goonda named Chalai Mani makes his appearance to save him. Chalai Mani is the other role played by Jayaram and actually he is there with a mission," he adds.

Jayaram has done double roles in several films before, but Rahasya Police has been made on an entirely different premise with investigation and mystery making it all the more interesting.

"The popular belief is that I have done a double role in Padmarajan's Aparan as well, but the truth is that though there is always mention about a baddie who resembles me, he never appear even once. That's perhaps one of the aspects that show the director's brilliance in handling his subjects," says the hero.

Rahasya Police is being produced by Kokers Films and the cinematographer is Venugopal.
