There's something about a fringe. It's young, cute and playful. And just what a stylist will recommend if you want to pass off for a teenybopper. Or so seems to be the case with Katrina Kaif.

The comely star has ditched her classic waves to sport pretty bangs in her rom-com Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

She's not the only one though. Over the years, the hairstyle has enjoyed much popularity in Bollywood. Go ahead, have a look:

The yesteryear beauty of classics like Woh Kaun Thi, Waqt and Mera Saaya was quite a trendsetter in her time. It is said her classic fringe, dubbed the 'Sadhana cut' was inspired by Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn's hairstyle in Roman Holiday.

Everybody ooh-aahed over Neelam's luxuriant mane and innocent face. And a slight fringe only enhanced the overall 'baby-doll' effect.

If you thought fringe is only for sugary Jane's; you've got it all wrong. Look at sexy Bipasha turn it into a snipping statement. The actress sure loves to experiment with her hair -- whether it's going bob or adding extensions.

Speaking of brilliant hair, can Ayesha Takia be far behind? A few wisps of hair on the forehead and Ms Wanted is good to go.

While tied-back hair looks best against Deepika's well-etched features; the leggy lass opted for a straight fringe to look the part of Chinese warrior in Chandni Chowk To China.

Lara Dutta

Her style is mostly understated and effortlessly sensual. (Even if you don't) Remember Blue? And so Lady Dutta looks undeniably saucy in a fetching new fringe.

Edgy and wild, just like her free-spirited screen presence, Genelia carries off her untamed tresses and unruly fringe with terrific elan.
