When real couples take it to the screen

It must be fun, really.

Actors and actresses routinely romance other actors and actresses, but once in a while real couples get together in the movies as well, mixing business with pleasure.

Here's a look at ten recent films that saw couples take their coochi-cooing off the tabloids and into theatres:

Kurbaan

We've seen Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor on screen quite a bit, most recently with Tashan and Roadside Romeo, and right now its this seemingly intense Rensil D'Silva film dominating publicity everywhere. Even if it's because the moral police suddenly have a problem with Kareena's bare back on the posters.

Bachna Ae Haseeno

Ranbir Kapoor romances three girls in this Siddharth Anand film, and while Minissha Lamba and Bipasha Basu give him life lessons, he only ends up with leggy cabdriver Deepika Padukone, his then-girlfriend in real life.

The two look to be enjoying themselves on screen, even though Kapoor has better chemistry with Bips.

Yuvvraaj

Sure, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif had come together before this film in hits like Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and Partner, but while Govinda stole the girl in the latter, the first film had Salman's own brother Sohail playing spoilsport.

This time Subhash Ghai directed the two in a full-on romance, and while they looked good together, the film was too dated to make any sort of impact.

Jab We Met

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena were a hardcore couple back when Imtiaz Ali shot this hit film, but by the time it released, the two had parted ways, with Kareena moving on and entering a relationship with Saif Ali Khan.

As a result, when the film opened with a devastated Shahid, it seemed ironic that Kareena be the one to bring brightness into his on-screen life. But boy, did she deliver.

Umrao Jaan

The Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai rumours had the nation enthralled for quite a while, and while the name Abhiwarya was yet to spread, JP Dutta cast the duo in his retelling of the classic Umrao Jaan.

Aishwarya looked her absolute best in the film, but everything else was an utter disaster. Mani Ratnam, on the other hand, lucked out with Guru, where both actors excelled.

Before Abhishek happened, Ash enjoyed a rather lovey-dovey relationship with actor Vivek Oberoi.

The two, along with Amitabh Bachchan, came aboard Samir Karnik's film with much fanfare but the project -- weighed down by a ludicrous script and weak direction -- sank like a stone.

Ajay Devgan and Kajol were an unlikely Bollywood couple, the actress rising to stardom straight off the bat while the actor took his own sweet time making random action movies till we all suddenly learnt he was capable of a glowering intensity.

This one, a French Kiss ripoff, is one of their first films together and while the film is a farce, they are kinda cute together.

Jism

They're Bollywood's most rock solid couple, and they first came together in this 2003 superhit.

The film, directed by Amit Saxena and written by Mahesh Bhatt, was a steamy thriller that really captured the public's imagination.

The film is widely considered one of the sexiest Indian hits, and the real-life couple had absolutely no trouble getting raunchy on screen.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

In what was arguably Sanjay Leela Bhansali's freshest film, Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan scorched the screen with fantastic chemistry.

All right, she did eventually pick Ajay Devgan but the film's charm lies in the wonderful way Salman's Samir and Ash's Nandini fall truly, madly, deeply in love.

International Khiladi

Long before she took his jeans off in public, Twinkle Khanna starred opposite Akshay Kumar in this Umesh Mehra film.

The film, yet another in a seemingly unending series of Akki-starring Khiladi movies, featured him as the villainous Devraj while she played the enthusiastic television journalist Pooja.

They got married in 2001, two years after the film came out in 1999.
