Indian television's biggest night

Some of television's brightest stars turned up for the ninth Indian Telly Awards last week to honour their own.

 

Some of the winners included Salman Khan and Rajeev Khandelwal. Even Rani Mukerji took home an award -- TV Ki Rani Award.

This year's big winners include Ronit Roy (top right), who was honoured with the most popular actor award for his role of Dharmaraj in Bandini.

 

Both Ronit and his brother Rohit Roy came with their wives, Neelam and Mansi Joshi Roy, respectively.

 

Rohit, incidentally, had a very busy weekend. After the award show, the actor and his wife moved to Khandala, where they attended Shilpa Shetty's grand wedding.

We may be watching the third season of Bigg Boss on television these days but it was the second season that bagged an award at the ceremony for Best Sitcom/Comedy and Best Reality show. Sambhavna Seth and Monica Bedi, who were housemates in the second season, represented the show.

Pretty actress Aamna Shariff -- her latest movie Ao Wish Karein with Aftab Shivdasani released recently -- won the TV to Cinema Award. The film, incidentally, was a flop.

Sach Ka Samna anchor Rajeev Khandelwal and Rock On!! actress Prachi Desai were awarded the Telly Award Special Recommendation award.

Salman Khan's 10 Ka Dum won two awards -- the Most Popular Game Show and Best Anchor.

The Best Fresh New Face awards for both male and female categories went to Angad Hasija for his role of Alekh in Sapna Babul Ka Bidaa and Avika Gor for her role of Anandi in Balika Vadhu.

The Most Popular Actress award went to Ratan Rajput for her role of Laali in Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo.

Kya Mast Hai Life was chosen as the most Popular Kids programme while SaReGaMaPa Challenge won the Best Singing Talent award.

The Best Thriller Programme award went to Star One's Ssshhh Phir Koi Hai.
