After the success of his maiden venture, Ivar Vivahitharayal, director Saji Surendran is getting ready to set the cash registers ringing big time with a laugh riot, Happy Husbands (a Malayalam remake of the Tamil film Charlie Chaplin which was already remade in Hindi as No Entry).
The shooting of the film has been completed in Kochi and Bangkok.
Jayaram, Indrajith and Jayasurya play the heroes in Happy Husbands while Bhavana, Samvrutha Sunil and Vandana play their female counterparts.
Rima Kallingal plays the role of a bar singer and a sizzling siren who comes into the midst of these three men.
The director calls the story "an interesting cat and mouse game with three couples and the other woman, who comes into their lives."
Krishna Poojappura, who has scripted the story that has been inspired from the Tamil film Charlie Chaplin, says that "the story is essentially about the need to be faithful to your partner and also about choosing the right type of friends."
Here is a look at the three couples and the other woman in Happy Husbands.
Jayaram and Bhavana
Mukundan Menon (Jayaram) runs a magazine called Kerala Today the magazine takes up genuine issues, especially concerning women.
He is an idealistic person who loves his wife Krishnendu (Bhavana) a lot. She is not educated much and demands more romance from her husband. She is evidently uncomfortable when her husband has to deal with other women.
Raj Bose, a local reporter played by Suraj Venjarammood, acts as her spy who keeps track of Mukundan's activities.
Indrajith and Samvrutha
The next couple in the story behaves entirely different from the first one.
Rahul Vellyathan (Indrajith) is a successful businessman but a hardcore romantic at heart. He never forgets to gift his wife Shreya (Samvrutha) a present after a trip.
But he has a weakness. He loves to flirt with pretty women all the time and poor Shreya is unaware about her husband's escapades. The couple is friendly with Mukundan's family.
Jayasurya and Vandana
The third couple in Happy Husbands, John Mathai (Jayasurya) and Zarina (Vandana), fell in love after a couple of interesting events.
John, a photographer at Kerala Today, was not too keen to marry, after he sees the troubles that his married friends go through. Zarina, the daughter of a top cop, was doing her research on suicide tendencies among youngsters and certain misunderstandings later, start romancing John.
