Vote: Most Outrageous Filmi Looks

Last updated on: November 30, 2009 18:26 IST
Amitabh Bachchan in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom

Our film stars aren't always fashionable. Sure, even strugglers wear Armani in our glossy movies, but there are times when actors change their look quite drastically for a film -- or even a scene -- pulling on an outfit that isn't just unconventional, it's purely mad.

We picked 10 really 'different' looks from recent cinema. Go through the list and feel free to comment citing other picks we might have missed. But at the end of our list, do vote for your favourite look!

Amitabh Bachchan in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom

Shaad Ali's technicolour explosion saw Amitabh Bachchan pulling on his old Shahenshah boots. And that was just the soberest part of the bizarre ensemble, involving a feathered hat and a vividly patched-together coat.

All this, and he had to carry off that Jhoom Barabar title song.

Ranbir Kapoor in Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani

Ranbir Kapoor in Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani

Ranbir Kapoor's Prem was a pretty simply dressed fellow in Rajkumar Santoshi's film. But think of the opening and closing scenes and you'll recall a golden statue of Lord Willingdon addressing the journalist and telling him the love story. Why, that stuck up Brit statue is Ranbir too!

Akshay Kumar in Tashan

Kumar played the unforgettable Bachchan Pandey in Vijay Krishn Acharya's Tashan. The stubbly character with close-cropped hair had a distinctive look by default.

Aamir Khan in Ghajini

Nope, we aren't talking about the tight shirts with the sleeves rolled up, the corporate-goon look. Murgadoss' film was never about casual Fridays, focussing much more on life after the bump on the head.

We're talking Aamir, bulked up to a surreal extent, head shaved but for that trendsetting scar. Oo-er.

Priyanka Chopra in What's Your Rashee

Priyanka Chopra in What's Your Rashee

Chopra went the whole hog in Ashutosh Gowariker's zodiac-themed epic, and picked out a different look for each of the twelve signs.

We'd have to pick out the unibrow'd Capricorn youngster, Jhankana, the bubblegum-popping Gemini fashionista, Kajal and the deliciously corporate shorthaired Libra, Rajni.

Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om

Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om

Nope, not the six pack. Think instead of the first half of the film as Shah Rukh entered full movie madness as Quick Gun Murugan, deliriously throwing around a stuffed tiger as he sang 'pussycat pussycat, where have you been?' with pure joy. And think also about the one, the only Mohabbatman. Oori-baba.

Salman Khan in Tere Naam

Salman Khan and Bhoomika Chawla in Tere Naam

There wasn't anything particularly wacky about Sallu's madman look in this Satish Kaushik hit. But that significantly messy middle-parting became astonishingly trendy across the nation, capturing the imagination of barbershops everywhere.

Saif Ali Khan in Omkara

The chhote nawab went rustic with a vengeance for this one, complete with shaven head, filthy fingernails and a limp.

His Langda Tyagi was a truly different character and it must have taken a lot to achieve that look, and stay in it for the entire length of the film.

Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2

Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2

The film opened with Hrithik dressed as a queen -- feel free to insert queer joke here -- and the man went on to an all-white look as a classical statue before dressing up as an old watchman. A pretty neat bag of tricks, and that statue bit was really quite well done.

Abhishek Bachchan in Drona

He grew his hair and wore a peculiar gold and white outfit. While that alone wasn't enough to make Abhishek Bachchan a superhero, he has to be given props for trying out a brand new look.
