Hollywood's most bankable actresses

British-born actress Naomi Watts has been named by Forbes magazine as the Hollywood actress who gives the best return on the money she is paid.

The 41-year-old star's last three films made 44 dollars for every 1 dollar she was paid to appear.

To make the list, the esteemed magazine analyzed the salaries and box office returns of the top 100 female stars in Hollywood.

The worldwide success of King Kong in 2005, and last year's well-received The International, helped Watts to beat actresses who receive fatter cheques such as Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie.

The amount the films made was then compared to the amount of money the actress cost to give a "return on investment" (ROI), reports The Telegraph.

Jennifer Connelly

Jennifer Connelly was the second most bankable actress, as for every dollar she earned her films took in 41 dollars.

Rachel McAdams

Canadian actress Rachel McAdams was third earning 30 dollars for every 1 dollar she was paid to appear.

Natalie Portman

Trailing behind McAdams is Natalie Portman whose ROI is 44 dollars.

Meryl Streep

Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep raked in the moolah with an ROI of 27 dollars.

Jennifer Aniston

Un-lucky in love Jennifer Aniston is not so unlucky when it comes to money. The Friends' star ROI is 26 dollars.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry has got both the looks and the moolah. She rakes in 23 dollars for her efforts.
