As you know, a typical Bollywood flick has it all -- songs, dances, fights and most of the times, happy endings as well.

Lately we have seen a rise in kidnappings. This Friday's thriller Acid Factory too deals with kidnappings. Five men wake up in a factory with no memory of how they got there. Three are kidnappers while the other two are their captives.

The film which is directed by Suparn Verma stars Danny Denzongpa, Dino Morea, Aftab Shivdasani, Manoj Bajpai, Irrfan Khan, Fardeen Khan and Dia Mirza.

While we wait to find out who kidnaps who, here's a look -- in no particular order -- at recent films which touched on the subject.

Kidnap

The title says it all.

Directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, Kidnap starred Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, Minissha Lamba and Vidya Malvade.

Imran plays Kabir an angry young man who kidnaps a bikini-clad Sonia (Minissha) so that he could get back at her father Vikrant (Sanjay Dutt) for things he had done in the past.

While the story sounds promising, the movie was anything but.

Inkaar

Raj Sippy directed this mystery thriller.

Sreeram Lagoo is a cobbler who through sheer hard work and determination becomes a wealthy shoe businessman. Tragedy strikes when his son gets kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 20 lakh.

He then seeks help from an inspector of police played by Vinod Khanna who finds out that it is not Lagoo's son who is kidnapped but his servant's son.

Relieved that it is not is son, Lagoo, nevertheless agrees to pay the ransom for his servant's son.

Amjad Khan plays the kidnapper who has some old scores to settle with Lagoo.

Deadline: Sirf 24 Ghante

Deadline: Sirf 24 Ghante directed by Tanveer Khan is a scene by scene copy of Hollywood film Trapped which was based on the book 24 Hours written by Greg Iles.

Trapped starred Charlize Theron and Kevin Bacon whereas Deadline: Sirf 24 Ghante starred Irrfan Khan, Sandhya Mridul, Rajat Kapoor and Konkana Sen Sharma.

Rajat Kapoor plays a well known heart surgeon who is about to be honoured for his work. On the day of his felicitation a woman played by Sandhya Mridul, barges into his room with a gun to tell him that his daughter has been kidnapped. Her associate Irrfan Khan has Rajat's wife played by Konkana Sen Sharma.

Rajat has to pay the ransom money of Rs one crore to rescue his wife and daughter. But soon the demand increases to Rs 2 crore and eventually to Rs three crore. Gripping stuff.

Jungle

The movie directed by Ram Gopal Varma is loosely based on the kidnappings by sandalwood smuggler Veerapan.

Urmila Matondkar goes on a family holiday to a jungle resort. A besotted Fardeen khan follows her there. While they are all on the way to a jungle safari, their bus is hijacked by the notorious Durga Narayan.

Enters Suniel Shetty, the special task officer who launches a rescue mission. Another gripping thriller.

Apharan

Aparhan deals with the Bihar kidnappings.

Ajay Devgn plays a very nice man until he runs into a politician (Tabrez Khan) who introduces him to the lucrative world of kidnappings.

The twist in the tale happens when Ajay Devgn kidnaps his ex-girlfriend's (Bipasha Basu) husband.

Yuva

Yuva directed by Mani Ratnam starred Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor and Esha Deol.

Even though this film does not deal with kidnapping per se, there is a scene towards the end of the film when Om Puri asks Abhishek to kidnap Vivek Oberoi.

Though the kidnapping itself is nothing great, the scene of the escape from the captors is really interesting and shot well.

Hu Tu Tu

Directed by Gulzar Hu Tu Tu starred Suniel Shetty, Tabu and Nana Patekar.

The movie starts with the kidnapping of a Maharashtra chief minister's daughter played by Tabu.

Suneil Shetty, Tabu's ex-lover in the film is behind the kidnapping. Why he does so is revealed in flash back mode.

Sholay

Amjad Khan plays a kidnapper again in Ramesh Sippy's master piece.

The fearsome bandit pledges to kill Veeru (Dharmendra) and Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) by kidnapping Veeru's love interest Basanti (Hema Malini).

Haan jab tak hain jaan main naachoongi, the song that Basanti sings and dances too after she is taken hostage is fraught with tension as Jai and Veeru sneak up on the bandits. Good stuff.

Army

Sridevi and Shah Rukh Khan play lovers who plan to marry and start a family.

Their plans are foiled when Shah Rukh's character is killed after getting into a fight with Danny Denzongpa. Sridevi vows revenge and goes it by getting five men to help her out.

She does so by kidnapping them and then convincing them to fight for her a cause.
