Yogish made news when he signed 11 new Kannada films on his birthday.
It was reported that scores of Kannada film producers went to the actor's house to wish him on his birthday bearing gifts. The gifts, as it turns out, were advance payments for their films.
And the reason for all the attention is the success of Yogish's first two films -- Duniya and Nanda Nanditha.
It will be interesting to see if Yogi can score a hattrick with Yogi which releases on October 30. The film is produced by K Manju and directed by Prakash.
So is Yogi going to be another entertainer?
Director Prakash says, "Let me be very frank. We cannot make an art film with Yogish who already has the image of a mass hero. He has so far excelled in action sequences.
"In this film, Yogish plays a confused and troubled youngster who is a big fan of Puneet Raj Kumar. He even names eatables after Appu's films. I assure you, the film will be a full-on entertainer for the audience."
Giving Yogish company in Yogi are four glamorous girls -- Biyanka Desai, Shirin, Hudugaata Rekha and Harshitha. Who will get him will be revealed only in the climax.
"It would be better for the audience to watch the film and know about it. As a film distributor, I know the pulse of the mass audience. I have made Yogi to please them. My film will certainly appeal to the youngsters and students who normally go to the theatres. One thing that is special about our film is that Yogish has also sung two lines in two songs," says Prakash.
The film's heroine Biyanka plays a gentle character and has more songs with Yogish, while Shirin plays a tough and rowdy character.
"I enjoyed working with Yogish. This is one film where I had to wear very colourful costumes. The styling and designing are perfect in the film," says Biyanka.
Yogish feels Yogi will be a perfect film for him to be accepted as a mass hero.
"The film has lot of commercial elements like punch dialogues laced with humour and good dances as well as fights. It is bound to be liked by young viewers," says Yogish.
According to the film's producer K Manju, Yogish has given a lively performance.
"I have spent lavishly on the song and fight sequences. Coming to the performances, I would say Suchindra Prasad has delivered a powerful performance as an underworld don."
Emil, who had assisted Jassie Gift in many Malayalam films is the music director. Emil had composed music for Yogish's super hit film Nanda Nanditha too.
Yogi's music is already a chartbuster with Ardhambarda Daadi and Bruce Lee Vamsha steadily climbing the charts.
What's special about the album is that it features A R Rehana, sister of A R Rahman, who has sung a song in the album.
