What an Earth Day surprise!
It's been announced that Abhay Deol is now the official brand ambassador in India of Al Gore's ambitious non-profit group, The Climate Project.
Speaking about his new role, Abhay exclaimed "Every day we unconsciously add to the rising concern of Global Warming. I feel very privileged to be associated with The Climate Project -- India wherein I can make a conscious effort in curbing this global threat that has left us no escape but to make a call of action!"
The Dev D star is reportedly taking his new task seriously, and is determined to implement "green" practices into his everyday life, as an example to all Indians.
To start things off, Abhay took a simple step -- he'll now separate his rubbish at home, into wet and dry waste.
He's not alone, either. Fellow Bollywooder Imran Khan is on board, and has agreed to assist Abhay in promoting The Climate Project.
"I cherish this opportunity where I can lend a helping hand to my friend in a cause so crucial and being a part of which is so simple," Khan said.
The Climate Project's initial aim was to raise awareness about climate change and its potential calamitous effects. Now focus shifts to broadcasting solutions.
As part of its Teachers Training Program, The Climate Project-India hopes to train teachers in all Delhi schools about climate change before the Commonwealth Games 2010.
And, thankfully, Abhay will be there every step of the way!
