With a budget crossing the Rs 100 crore mark, Endhiran (Robot) the 10th film of director Shankar, is the costliest film ever made in India. It is also the most talked about film in the country.

Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures is the producer of the Tamil film which is being dubbed in Hindi and Telugu.

Shankar is called the 'Man with the Midas touch' as his films are all hits. Every film starting with Gentleman to the last, Sivaji was a success.

It is said that Shankar wanted to make a film soon after Nayak but couldn't as the budget was huge.

The project was first titled Robot but changed to Endhiran to make it sound more Tamil.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is paired opposite Tamil super star Rajnikanth for the first time.

Rajni called her the beauty with brains at the audio launch in Malaysia.

He jokingly said, "There are love scenes between us and I could see Amitabh Bachchan standing there and telling me, khabardar...'

National award-winning art director Sabu Cyril has done the art work for Endhiran.

It may be recalled that it was Padma Shri winner Thotta Tharani who was the art director of Sivaji.
