British singer Rod Stewart is gearing up to become a dad for the eighth time, after he and his wife Penny Lancaster announced that she is three months pregnant.

 

Stewart, 65, and Lancaster, 39, who has a son Alastair, four, discovered the pregnancy as they celebrated their third wedding anniversary in Italy in June.

 

The baby will arrive just weeks after Stewart's 66th birthday next January, and shortly before Lancaster turns 40 in March.

 

'We were thrilled and delighted to be able to tell Alastair that he was going to be the big brother to a little baby, expected just before Mummy's 40th birthday,' the Sun quoted them as saying on August 9. 

 

The singer, who battled thyroid cancer in 2000, revealed he and his wife have been trying for a baby since last year.

 

'It makes you want to keep very fit. I'm a pretty good 65. As a parent of a new child, I'll maybe be around for 25 years at most. But it'll be a happy, loving 25 years,' he added.

 

Stewart is known for his liaisons with women (fathering seven children with five of them; the oldest being born in 1964.

The Oscar winner actress played a brothel madam in the film, which was directed by her husband Taylor Hackford.

 

It took a paltry 90,000 pounds in ticket sales in its first month.

 

Now UK cinema audiences are unlikely to see the film, which cost 10million pounds to make.

 

Hollywood insiders say it will probably go straight to DVD.

 

'It's a disaster,' the Sun quoted one executive as saying.

 

Dame Helen, 65, researched her role by spending a day observing at a brothel -- and even posed topless to promote the film.

Portia de Rossi to take on wife Ellen DeGeneres' last name

Portia de Rossi has filed a petition to legally change her last name to wife Ellen DeGeneres', according to reports.

 

The papers, in Los Angeles Superior Court state that de Rossi wants her name to become Portia Lee James DeGeneres.

 

According to TMZ, the reason stated is: 'Petitioner is taking the last name of her spouse.'

 

DeGeneres and de Rossi were wed in Los Angeles in 2008 during the narrow five-month window between California's Supreme Court ruling that gay marriage was legal and a public referendum striking it down.

 

A federal judge last week ruled that the referendum's ban is unconstitutional and the matter is likely to end up before the U.S. Supreme Court, reports the New York Daily News.

 

If de Rossi's petition is approved, it would not be her first name change -- she was born Amanda Lee Rogers, but changed her name when she was 15.

Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson call off engagement

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen have officially called off their engagement, it has emerged.

Reports surfaced a couple months ago that the duo were on a break, but now the split is permanent.

'Yes, the engagement is off,' People quoted Bilson's rep as saying.

But Bilson's rep declined to provide details on the break-up.

Distance was reportedly one of the main reasons for the split.

With Bilson primarily in LA, and Christensen in Canada, 'It just wasn''t working out,' says a pal of the actress.

Now Bilson is 'focusing on her career, spending time with her family and just moving forward,' a friend added.

Christensen, 29, and Bilson, 28, met on the set of Jumper in 2007, and got engaged in December of the following year.
