Get your low down on what's happening in the Kannada film industry, right here!
The big news going down in the Kannada industry is that Shivarajkumar -- popularly known as Shivanna -- is making his television debut with Naaniruvude Nimagagi.
The name of the show borrows from a popular song from Rajkumar's film Mayura (Shivanna's father). Sources say that Shivanna will be fulfilling the wishes of the contestants as the host of the show, which is expected to be aired on Zee Kannada.
While the sets are being constructed in Kengeri, Shivanna is expected to commence shooting once the dates are finalised.
The actor is currently busy dubbing for Mylari. Shooting for his Jogaiah, the sequel to his super hit film, Jogi released in 2005, is expected to begin once the heroine is finalised. Next in the pipeline is Operation Golden Gang.
In the recent past, actors Rakshita, Lakshmi, Vinaya Prasad, Ramesh Arvind, Priyanka Upendra, Pooja Gandhi and Sudeep have entered television.
Actor Upendra's Editors' Bull cricket team went home with the Dr Raj cup for which the entire Kannada industry came together.
However Uppi could not participate in the T20 final as he had to shoot one of his films. In his absence, editor Nagendra Urs led the winning team. The team defeated the Directors' team captained by actor Ravichandran. Sudeep's Dancers' team and the Cameramens' team lost out in the semi finals.
The preliminary matches of the T20 matches were played between eight teams. Fighters', Producers', MLA and TV/Press teams were eliminated earlier. All the matches were to be held in Davangere. But the semi finals and the final were played in Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore, as heavy rains lashed Davangere. The finals will be aired on Suvarna channel either on August 15 or during the Varamahalakshmi festival.
The proceeds from the event will go to the members of the Dancers' Union. The union has around 350 members. Veteran actor Rajkumar's son Raghavendra Rajkumar was present at the awards ceremony. Several entertainment programmes were also held in Davangere.
Director Guruprasad is on a high. He not only won a popular award for his film Yeddelu Manjunatha recently, but has also been roped in to write the dialogues for the Kannada version of Nadodigal, according to sources.
Puneet, Yogish and Srinagara Kitty are likely to play the lead roles in the film. The film is going to be Puneet's home production.
