Vote: Best jodi you would like to see on screen

Last updated on: August 18, 2010 12:35 IST
Shah Rukh Khan-Bipasha Basu

Legendary pairs are made on screen, 70mm style. They encompass chemistry, fantastic acting and most importantly, box office jingle.

Keeping an outing on screen fresh, is as much about the cast, as it is about the script. And while we've seen some fabulous combinations in the past few months, here are some couples we hope to see together on screen.

Shah Rukh Khan-Bipasha Basu

Billo Rani and Billu Barber have never worked together though SRK has worked successfully with most Bengali women in the industry -- be it Kajol, Sushmita Sen or Rani Mukerji.

Bipasha with her sultry looks somehow hasn't found favour with Aamir either. In fact, her outing with Salman Khan in No Entry counted as her re-birth in the industry after a string of flops.

Time SRK and Bips got together? Vote at the end of the slide show, if you agree.

Ranbir Kapoor-Rani Mukerji

Ranbir Kapoor-Rani Mukerji

She, of the Aati Kya Khandala fame, and he of the towel-tease freeze frame!

Both have worked with different directors and won hearts galore. And while the world is itching to see Ranbir cast with cousin Kareena Kapoor, we think he would make a sizzling pair with Rani. His cool, boyish charm will be a strong foil to her laughter and pizzaz.

Given how Ranbir was projected to look the older/serious and multi-layered persona in Raajneeti, and given how hard Ms Mukerji is working to look young, we think this pair will work.

Vote, if you think Karan Johar should sign these two together in a love story saga.

Priyanka Chopra-Aamir Khan

They are both method actors.

She's going to spend a few days in an asylum to research for her next role, while his attention to detail and bent towards perfection is legendary.

She's at the peak of her career and leading award nights, while he's been leading the power list for a while.

Both whimsical and unwilling to belong to any camp. And to get them to shine on the big screen, Vishal Bhardwaj or Rajkumar Hirani gets our thumbs up.

Do they get your thumbs up?

Katrina Kaif-Abhishek Bachchan

Six degrees of separation, not withstanding, this combination would be much-talked about. After all, it would be working with one of Bollywood's most popular girls, who is displacing your wife in ad campaigns and movie scripts. Not to forget, there's a ex-factor at play.

But we think this would make for a super combination, especially because Kaif has stunning screen presence and no one can play a better foil to Abhishek. Ask Ash.

And it might be best to get buddy Rohan Sippy to sign them on for a caper Bluffmaster style?

Box office gold? You tell us.

Kareena Kapoor-Abhay Deol

Kareena Kapoor-Abhay Deol

She's worked with every Khan, every Kapoor and every camp.

What we think Kareena needs is another Jab We Met. Given that a certain Mr Kapoor might be out of the reckoning, we think Abhay Deol would be the perfect fit.

His gene pool, fantastic acting skills and ability to look suave and older despite his real age has already earned him brownie points. Kareena, on the other hand, needs to flirt with the unusual.

A runaway saga, with romance and super dialogues would make for a perfect script. And we reckon director Imtiaz Ali, who's worked with the duo in his first two films, would cast them perfectly.

What do you think?

Deepika Padukone-Ajay Devgn

Deepika Padukone-Ajay Devgn

He's worked with Aishwarya to serious box office and critical success. Remember Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Khakee and Raincoat?

That alone justifies why Ash lookalike Deepika and Ajay Devgn are already commercially viable and red-hot. His melting eyes and intense screen presence plays a perfect foil to her icy cold vibes and touch-me-not appeal.

Devgn has already proved his mettle by dishing out hit after hit last year. And Dips seems to have found herself experimenting with various genres, directors, co-stars and boyfriends.

Does this pair work for you?

Lara Dutta-Govinda

Lara Dutta-Govinda

Whoever says opposites don't attract? In Govinda's case, they make box office history. Remember Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty hitting box office gold with Govinda?

We think Lara's intelligence and flair for comedy will come handy with Chi Chi's moves and magic on screen. And given their outings on screen have barely kept them in the news, both need a blockbuster to reinstate their star status.

The duo did share some together screen time in Partner, but how we wish that David Dhawan will cast these two in a comedy opposite each other soon.

Does this compelling pair have your yay?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Imran Khan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Imran Khan

On the rare occasion that Bollywood could actually make a compelling story for a young boy falling in love with an older woman, we think these beautiful people would make for a perfect cast.

Aishwarya Rai, who is sharing screen time with Akshay Kumar and Rajnikanth in her upcoming ventures, needs to woo and engage the audience in a romantic love saga.

Imran Khan, still working the young lover boy niche needs to widen his net of co-stars. Also, given Imran's breeziness and Ash's giggles and pouts, this could be a seriously interesting cast.

Could we get Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na director Abbas Tyrewala to work his magic again?

Vidya Balan-Farhan Akhtar

Vidya Balan-Farhan Akhtar

Seriously intelligent. Seriously diverse. Seriously good actors!

Akhtar is the king of cool with his last two turns in front of the camera winning him a huge fan following.

Vidya's Paa may have broken her bad run at the box office, but the actress needs to move out of the auntyji image!

And who better than Rock On!! director Abhishek Kapoor to get this pair to work? An intense romance, with much dialogue and close-ups, we think would be super cool!

What do you say?
