Mallika Sherawat to romance Avatar star
Mallika Sherawat has been cast opposite Avatar actor Laz Alonso in Love Barack, a political romantic comedy set during the frantic days leading up to 2008 US Presidential election.
Doug McHenry will direct the film, while Los Angeles Times contributing writer Gary Goldstein will pen the script.
Mallika will play the central character Aretha Gupta, a devoted, Obama volunteer coordinator. The story follows the romantic and political rollercoaster that develops when, the month before Election Day, Democrat Aretha unexpectedly falls for her Republican counterpart (Alonso), a handsome, dynamic African-American working for the local McCain office.
The film also stars veteran actress Ruby Dee, comedy veteran Gerry Bednob and Loretta Devine.

Renowned director Baz Luhrmann is snapped as he makes his way to an art exhibition to raise funds for DEEDS, a charity for the hearing impaired, in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Luhrmann along with artist Vincent Fantauzzo exhibited their photographs from their trip across North India at Le Sutra, which claims to be India's first art hotel.
The exhibition will go on till February 22.

Lending her support to the cause was Gul Panag, who posed besides a photograph of late actor Heath Ledger.

Gul wasn't the only one. Directors Imtiaz Ali and Abhishek Kapoor, and Celina Jaitley, Kabir Bedi, Pooja Bedi, Dino Morea, Jackky Bhagnani, Lucky Ali, Poonam Dhillon, Alyque Padamsee, Raell Padamsee, Dolly Thakore and Kashmira Shah were among those who came by to celebrate and support the cause.
Bidding goodbye
Aamir Khan's ex-wife Reena Dutta arrives at Aamir's Bandra residence, in the suburban area of Mumbai to pay her last respects to the actor's father -- filmmaker-writer Tahir Hussain -- who passed away on Tuesday morning following a cardiac arrest. The funeral will be held today.
