A host of celebrities like Genelia D'Souza and Shruti Haasan were spotted at the J W Marriott in Mumbai on Thursday to kick off the 55th Filmfare Awards pre-party and Manish Malhotra fashion show.
The awards will be held on Saturday.
Though 3 Idiots was the biggest hit of 2009, it was Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey that bagged the maximum number of nominations -- including Best Film, Best Director (Vishal Bhardwaj), Best Actor (Shahid Kapoor), Best Actress (Priyanka Chopra), Best Supporting Actor (Amole Gupte), Best Music (Vishal Bhardwaj), Best Lyrics (Gulzar) and Best Male Playback Singer (Sukhwinder Singh-Vishal Dadlani for Dhan Te Nan).
3 Idiots did win a nomination for Best Film along with Dev D, Love Aaj Kal, Paa and Wake Up Sid. It was also nominated in the Best Actor (Aamir Khan), Best Actress (Kareena Kapoor), Best Supporting Actor (Boman Irani, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi) and Best Female Playback Singer (Shreya Ghoshal for Zoobi Doobi) categories.
Shahana Goswami has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Nandita Das' touching tale Firaaq.
Others vying for the same award include Arundhati Naag (Paa), Divya Dutta (Delhi-6), Dimple Kapadia (Luck By Chance), Kalki Koechlin (Dev D) and Supriya Pathak (Wake Up Sid).
Besides Shahid Kapoor and Aamir Khan, others vying for the Best Actor awards are Amitabh Bachchan (Paa), Ranbir Kapoor (Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Wake Up Sid) and Saif Ali Khan (Love Aaj Kal).
In addition to 3 Idiots, Kareena Kapoor bagged another nomination in the Best Actress category for her role in Kurbaan.
The other actresses nominated in the same category are Deepika Padukone (Love Aaj Kal), Katrina Kaif (New York), Priyanka Chopra (Kaminey) and Vidya Balan (Paa).
Giving competition to 3 Idiots' Boman Irani, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi in the Best Supporting Actor (Male) are Neil Nitin Mukesh (New York) and Rishi Kapoor (Luck By Chance).
Elsewhere in Mumbai, Ajay Devgn and Konkona Sen Sharma promoted their movie Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge. The comedy releases on March 5.
Pallavi Joshi and Gul Panag are snapped at the launch of 'Green Commandos', a clean Mumbai initiative organised by a group of NGOs.
The 'Green Commandos' first initiative will be a 'Say no to Plastic' campaign, which will be carried out in 400 areas of Mumbai.

Interestingly, Anil Kapoor joined Depp at the red carpet.
