Hollywood's scorching summer blockbusters

It is the season for the megabudget films, and while Hollywood might have released this year's biggest films -- Alice In Wonderland and Iron Man 2 -- already, the release of Shrek Forever After marks the start of the big, silly blockbusters.

Here's what to expect:

Sex And The City 2

The first Sex And The City film did surprisingly well, quickly paving the way for a sequel about the four New York gals who love high heels, Cosmopolitans and their perpetually dysfunctional relationships.

The new film is very likely going to be a big one, so don't miss it when it opens in India on June 11.

The Karate Kid

It's been 25 years wince Mr Miyagi taught Daniel the art of combat in the original Karate Kid, and this time Jackie Chan stars as the mentor alongside Jaden Smith.

Jaden is Will and Jada-Pinkett's son, with proud mom and dad producing the film, which releases in India on June 11.

The buzz is weak on this one, but at least the martial arts look authentic in the trailer.

The A-Team

As Charlie's Angels -- and even Get Smart -- have proved, a spirited adaptation of a much-loved TV show translates effectively to the big screen, which is why we see an eclectic bunch of actors, including Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper, bring the A-Team to the big screen.

Could be fun, but then without Mr T, it could be a Dukes Of Hazzard sized disaster.

Toy Story 3

Little Miss Sunshine writer Michael Arndt comes aboard this hotly anticipated sequel, but even without that we're all more than thrilled about the return of Woody and Buzz, the toys who kicked off the Pixar phenomenon.

Without question, this is one of 2010's biggest films, and expect it to break records worldwide. In 3D.

Knight And Day

Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise join forces in what is clearly, blatantly and transparently an old-school action-comedy.

With director James Mangold (Walk The Line, 3:10 To Yuma) at the helm, one expects some smartly scripted laughs in the midst of all the mayhem, and it'll be refreshing to see Cruise and Diaz do something frothy and fun.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

What is a girl to do? The third film in the phenomenally successful Twilight trilogy sees Kristen Stewart's Bella have to choose between a vampire and a werewolf.

There's no question the new film has an audience salivating, fangs at the ready. And then there's that Robert Pattinson fellow, currently the most popular pinup in the world.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

There would normally be very mild buzz about this Jon Turtletaub film starring his National Treasure actor Nicolas Cage, but now that the actor has hit top form again with films like Bad Lieutenant and Kick-Ass, the film is hotly anticipated.

Audiences should also queue up for the delicious Monica Bellucci, who can turn any magic movie into a true fantasy.

Inception

Christopher Nolan leaves Batman alone and goes back into the territory of the mind, the Memento director here concentrating on a corporation that constructs dreamscapes but robs clients of their subconscious.

Sounds iffy, like a cross between Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and Tron, but with Nolan at the helm and Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead, there's no question this will the season's smartest blockbuster.
