The Hurt Locker sweeps Oscars

The Iraq War drama The Hurt Locker has bagged the Best Picture and five other prizes at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, its haul including best director for Kathryn Bigelow.

Bigelow is the first woman in the 82-year history of the Oscars to earn Hollywood's top prize for filmmakers.

Sandra Bullock won the Best Actress Oscar for The Blind Side. The actress earlier revealed that she was sure she would not be taking home the coveted statuette.

'I'm so not winning an Oscar. Nine times out of 10, I always pick who's going to win. And I already know who's going to win. I'm not going to say, but nine times out of 10, I'm right,' the Daily Express quoted her as telling People.com.

 Looks like this time she's glad she got it wrong.

Jeff Bridges took the Best Actor award for Crazy Heart.

The 60-year-old actor earlier revealed that he was not prepared to walk down the red carpet at the Oscars, which seems to get crazier every year.

'You'd think I'd be more prepared for this, but every time I walk down that red carpet, and those lights, it seems to get more and more crazy,' the Mirror quoted him as saying.
