Hear your top 17 Indian Idol hopefuls sing!

After weeks of auditions, we finally present you the top 17 Indian Idol season 5 hopefuls.

From thousands of hopefuls, the number was narrowed down to 117 and finally to 17.

So who are these youngsters? Patcy N finds out at the launch of the top 17 on Thursday in Mumbai where each contestant sang.

In this video we have Asit Kumar from Bengaluru singing Pehli Nazar Mein from the film Race originally sung by Atif Aslam, Vishwas Rai from Allahabad singing Badan Pe Sitare Lapete Hue from the film Prince originally sung by Mohamed Rafi, Tia Kar from Mumbai singing Mehboob Mere from the film Fiza originally sung by Sunidhi Chauhan (who also happens to be one of the judges of the show) and Meghna Kumar from Jhansi singing Mahi Ve from the film Kaante sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Richa Sharma.

Yashraj Kapilm Arvind Gujral, Shreerama Chandra and Swaroop Khan

Next we have Yashraj Kapil from Delhi singing Kasto Mazaa from the film Parineeta originally sung by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan, Arvind Gujral from Ludhiana singing Tujhe Laage Na Nazariya from the album Mohabbat, Pyar, Love originally sung by Sonu Nigam, Shreerama Chandra from Secunderabad singing Dard-e-Disco from the film Om Shanti Om originally sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Swaroop Khan from Rajasthan singing the folk song Nimbooda [the commercial version of the folk song was seen in the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam].

Manisha Karmakar, Naushad Ali Kawa, Lakshya Nijhawan and Shivam Pathak

This next video feature Manisha Karmakar from Kolkata singing Aisa Jadoo Dala Re from the film Khakee originally sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Naushad Ali Kawa from Jaipur singing Piya Re from the album Salaam sung by the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

When Naushad finished singing, an impressed Idol judge Anu Malik got up from his seat and called Naushad for an encore.

The evening continued with Lakshya Nijhawan from Delhi singing the title track of the film Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye originally sung by Mikha Singh and Shivam Pathak from Uttar Pradesh singing Soniyo from the film Raaz: The Mystery Continues originally sung by Sonu Nigam.

The evening wore on with Kanika Joshi from Uttarakhand singing Aaiye Meherbaan from the film Howrah Bridge originally sung by Asha Bhosle, Rakesh Maini from Agra singing Tenu Leke Main Jawanga from the film Salaam -E-Ishq originally sung by Sonu Nigam and Mahalakshmi Iyer, Bhoomi Trivedi from Baroda singing Mahiya from Awarapan originally sung by Suzzane, Arpita Khan from Kolkatta singing Ab Ke Sawan Aise Barse from the album Ab ke Sawan originally sung by Shubha Mudugal and Shashi Suman from Patna singing Nagada Nagada from the film Jab We Met originally sung by Sonu Nigam and Javed Ali.

Anu Malik and Salim Merchant

Last but not the least, judges Anu Malik and Salim Merchant too showed off their vocals with a rendition of Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen from the film Baazigar originally sung and composed by Anu Malik, and Aashayein from the film Iqbal originally sung by Salim Merchant.
