Ghajini team returns with 7aam Arivu

If Gowtham Menon's Kaakha Kaakha made Suriya a star, R Murugadoss' Ghajini made him a super star.

The film was such a huge success that Aamir Khan remade it in Hindi. The Hindi version too was a huge success, though for those who have seen both the versions, it was felt that Suriya was better in the lead role.

Similarly, A R Rahman's songs for the Hindi version of Ghajini were superb but Harris Jayaraj's songs for the original were better and still remembered years after the film was made. Even the picturisation of some of the songs were more romantic.

So when the deadly combination of Suriya, Murugadoss and Harris Jayaraj decided to join hands again after five long years for 7aam Arivu (seventh sense), there was a lot of excitement in the Tamil film industry. It further escalated when ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran decided to join the group.

Anu Vardhan, wife of director Vishnu Vardhan who revolutionised style with Billa has been signed up to style the actors. So for Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies, this has been a coup of sorts.

But wait, who is Suriya's heroine in the film? That is another surprise too. It's none other than Shruti Haasan. This is her first Tamil film.

It may be recalled that she was to debut opposite Madhavan in a Tamil film but opted out of it because of Luck, her debut Hindi film.

Harris Jayaraj also let us on a juicy tidbit. It seems Shruti is going to sing as well as act.

Murugadoss said that it took him ten months to write the script, which he promised would be different. "It is a subject nobody has handled before. Unlike Ghajini, there will be action but no violence.

Suriya looked and sounded excited to be working with his favourite director again. He said that the script bowled him over. "It is something that has not been told before. It will be a turning point in my career."
