The black Givenchy dress Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast At Tiffany's is top of the frocks, according to a poll.
The gown was named the greatest female screen outfit in the survey for DVD rental film Lovefilm.
Lovefilm editor Helen Cowley said, 'Audrey Hepburn has truly made that little black dress a fashion staple which has stood the test of time despite competition from some of the most stylish females around.'
Next came the floor-length emerald green Jacqueline Durran-designed dress worn by Keira Knightley in Atonement.
Marilyn Monroe's white dress from The Seven Year Itch was placed third, reports The Mirror.
Ursula Andress's bikini from Dr No was placed fourth.
The bikini was followed by Kate Hudson's gold dress in How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days.
Hepburn again made the list this time in this white dress she wore at the races in My Fair Lady.
Then there was Olivia Newton John's skin-tight trousers in Grease.
Who can forget Raquel Welch's bikini in One Million Years BC?
Or Nicole Kidman's sparkly corset in Moulin Rouge?
And finally, Sarah Jessica Parker's wedding dress in Sex And The City wraps up the top 10 greatest outfits in the movies.
