Gautham Vasudev Menon's Photon Kathaas Productions ('PKP') started a year back with the idea of taking South Indian cinema to the global audience, has achieved something extraordinary.

The company becomes the first publicly traded south Indian-based film production company when it got listed on the AIM market in London. The production house has Academy award composer A R Rahman as chief creative mentor and advisor to the board. The co-promoters are Venkat Somasundaram and Reshma Ghatala. Venkat Somasundaram the CEO is a graduate from IIT and IIM.

"I will be directing films exclusively for PKP and have also roped in other directors to make films under this banner. Our current production slate includes 'Azhagar Saamiyin Kuthirai' (directed by Susindaran), Veppam (directed by Anjana), my own films- Nadunisi Naaygal and the Hindi remake of Vinnaithandi Varuvaya in association with Fox Star Studios. We also have other projects in various stages of development including a television series.

"As an aspiring film director at the age of 25, I was completely unsure of being a part of this magical world of cinema. But today, with ten films behind me, I know with certainty that it was this industry that has made me who I am. I would like to believe that PKP is my humble tribute to the South Indian film industry as I hope for it to pave the way for a whole new generation of talent," Said Menon in a statement.
