Fans of Harry Potter rejoice!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, the seventh and penultimate picture from the popular series opens in India on November 19.

But London got to see it first when the movie had its world premiere in the city on Thursday, with fans braving wind and rain to watch their favourite Potter characters -- Harry, Ron and Hermione -- on the red carpet.

And what an evening it turned out to be. Grabbing maximum eyeballs was Emma Watson, who plays Hermione, with her dramatic new look.

The 20-year-old looked all grown up in a new super short bob and killer black dress.

Giving her company were the two lads, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, both looking dapper in suits.

In Deathly Hallows Part 1, the three central characters embark on a journey to track down and destroy the secret devil Lord Voldemort's immortality and destruction -- the Horcruxes.

It will also see best friends Harry and Ron fighting each other as the pressure mounts to fight the forces of evil.

How can we forget the woman who started it all? Author J K Rowling of the hugely successful boy wizard books also put in an appearance.

We wonder how she feels about several new scenes in the film that did not appear in the book.

'We've added a couple of sequences which aren't in the book that I think raise the emotional stakes and the jeopardy stakes,' the Daily Mail quoted Director David Yates as saying.

The scene takes place in a tent.

'We've added a scene where [Harry] finds Hermione listening to some Muggle music and they have a dance with each other, which is a very tender, awkward and emotional moment for the two of them.

'There is always that question -- they have a very special friendship as characters and there is always that moment where you think, could this trip beyond friendship to something else?

'In the book, JK alludes to that but she doesn't actually show it. I wanted to show it on film because I thought it would be a very interesting thing.

'We've never seen Hermione's home or her parents, and to just lift up a wand and do that when her parents are watching television would be weird, odd, interesting and surprising. JK loved that notion, but of course she came up with the original idea,' he said.

There's also a scene where Harry, Hermione and Ron run from a gang of Snatchers.

According to Yates: 'We added a big chase towards the end of the first part. [JK Rowling] gave us these brilliant characters called Snatchers so I wanted to have some more fun with them, so we added an extra beat where they chase the trio.'

The locket scene in which Ron is taunted by images -- conjured up by the Horcrux -- of Riddle-Harry and Riddle-Hermione sharing an embrace does appear in the book, but the film takes things a step further.

Yates required Daniel Radcliffe to strip off.

'Dan has appeared nude in the past, but there are a couple of scenes in the new film in which he will undress. We will create something that feels very sexy and very intriguing,' he said.

'When I read the script, I thought that I would have underwear, but no! I've already done it for Equus so it wasn't difficult. I'm wondering how people will react, even if things will be hidden on the screen,' Radcliffe said.

And while Rowling writes that 'their lips met', in the film Radcliffe has a 'full on' kiss with Emma Watson.
