Mel Gibson is trying to rebuild his movie career with a comedy role in The Hangover 2.

The troubled star, who was dropped by the William Morris Endeavor agency in July, has signed to play a Bangkok tattooist in the highly anticipated comedy.

The actor was facing a tough time after he faced allegations that he assaulted and made threats against his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

'It's a done deal. Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built, and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October,' the New York Post quoted a source as saying.

Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp spent 40,000 pounds on jackets for the shivering crew on his new pirate movie.

Depp, 47, is currently filming the Pirates of the Caribbean's fourth series at Pinewood Studios, Bucks, which has been hit by the biting cold crack.

'Johnny paid out of his own pocket for all 500 of us to have a nice warm waterproof,' the Sun quoted a crew member as saying.

'It's a great morale boost and another example of why he is one of the nicest people in Hollywood,' he added.

Depp -- who plays Captain Jack Sparrow in the movie, spent 80 pounds on each of the waterproof hiking jackets.
