Audio release functions in the Telugu film industry are normally grand events with much fanfare. But at times there are exceptions like the recent one where Mahesh Babu's Mahesh Khaleja was released.

The audio was launched at the office of Radio Mirchi in the presence of Mahesh Babu, Anushka director Trivikram Srinivas and music director Mani Sharma.

Namrata, Mahesh's wife and their son Gautham were present too. Gautham released the first song on Radio Mirchi. On this occasion, Mahesh also interacted with the winners of the contest conducted on the radio channel.

The plot of the film was also officially revealed. Mahesh plays the role of a taxidriver who lands up in a village in Rajasthan due to circumstances and tries to rid the village of its problems.

Happy days for Varun

Varun Sandesh, introduced by Sekhar Kammula in Happy Days in 2007 when he was just about 17, has since then had a roller-coaster ride in cinema.

His second film Kotha Bangaru Lokam (produced by Dil Raju) was a hit but his successive films like Evaraina Epudaina (produced by AVM), Kurradu (remake of the Tamil film Polladavan), Maro Charitra, Happy Happy ga had a rather tepid response at the BO.

Varun, however is busy on the film track signing movies. Out of the Happy Days foursome, Varun has been lucky to have struck the right chord in cinema. Offers are pouring in for this young lad and he is right now busy with Kudirithey Kappu Coffee (with Suma Bhattacharya) and Emaindi Ee Vela (with Nisha Aggarwal, sister of Kajal Aggarwal).

Prasthanam was a critically acclaimed film helmed by Deva Katta (of Vennela fame) starring Sai Kumar and Sharwanand which released in April this year. This film traces the rise and fall of a person against a political backdrop.

Sai Kumar and Sharwanad put in good performances but the surprise package was Sundeep Kishan. Now the news is that Prasthanam is being filmed in Hindi. Although the cast has not been officially announced the buzz is that Nana Patekar and Akshay Kumar are being considered. Mahesh Manjrekar is said to be directing it.

The Tamil rights of Prasthanam have been bought by Prakash.
