Styling Spider-Man iconic suit!

Spider-Man's suit may be iconic but it's definitely not very comfortable.

In fact, Andrew Garfield, who plays the superhero in the forthcoming The Amazing Spider-Man, claims the suit is 'irritating' and sometimes 'unflattering.'

We decided to ask one of our desi designers to suggest an alternate suit for Spider-Man, and designer Rick Roy sent us his own take.

Roy has worked with several Bollywood stars -- he created Emraan Hashmi's look in Jannat 2, styled Malaika Arora Khan for her Anarkali song in Houseful 2, and is apparently Chitrangada Singh's personal favourite.

Among his forthcoming ventures is Shirish Kunder's Joker, starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha.

He tells us how he has styled Spider-Man's new suit.

The two most important changes I've made in the suit are functionality and safety.

The suit is iconic so I have kept the basic elements -- like the colours -- same.

I did not want to change the mask, as I believe it doesn't require any changes.

I have made the logo big so that it stands out, and I have added a lot of padding on the necessary places like shoulders and knees. This is a safety requirement so that Spider-Man is not vulnerable to different kinds of attacks. He keeps falling and tumbling so this extra padding will cushion his moves.

I have also given some muscle cuts, which makes the outfit more flexible. Since Spider-Man swings on his webs, he needs flexibility.

The underwear is on the outside because if it is a one-piece suit then technically, the movement becomes very restricted. This way, the outfit is more flexible.

I am a big fan of Spider-Man, and the new film looks fantastic.

Back home, I think Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh would make good Spider-Men because they are young and athletic.
