Anurag Kashyap praises Parinda

Anurag Kashyap, who attended the screening of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1989 film Parinda, said it's the best Indian gangster noir ever.

He tweeted: 'Parinda is still the best indian gangster noir ever...... Period. Parinda has not aged one bit except the childhood scenes. Edited on Steinbeck and the best editing u will see ever. Sparse dialogues and wow. Even Satya pales in comparison. Today I remembered the first time I saw Nana Patekar on screen at Filmistam in delhi and was blown. Last time you saw two moustached heroes with unshaven chests, when men were men. And Bhansali gave his first tribute to Vijay Anand's Johnny Mera Naam.'

The director felt nostalgic to see Mumbai of 80s. 'Young Imtiyaz Hussain and young Shiv Subramaniam on screen. Reminds me of me being an extra in Satya. Bhansali was the song director of Parinda. The climax of new year shot for three new years in a row. First big screen Suhagraat scene that I remember. Nostalgic to see the Bombay of the 80's,' he added.
