Writer-director B Unnikrishnan's Grandmaster, starring Mohanlal; Vysakh's Mallu Singh with Unni Mukundan and Kunchacko Boban; and Lal Jose's Diamond Necklace are all set to release in theatres on May 3.

Grandmaster

Director: B Unnikrishnan

Cast: Mohanlal, Priyamani, Narain, Roma

UTV Motion Pictures make their entry into Malayalam films with Grandmaster.

Mohanlal plays IPS officer Chandrasekharan, who after his divorce becomes a recluse, unwilling to take on any responsibilities. At a certain point of time he has to take up a new assignment and that changes his life.

As the title denotes, Chandrasekharan is a good chess player. "But unlike in the game, we can't anticipate the next move when it comes to life," says Unnikrishnan, about the relevance of the title.

Priyamani plays Chandrasekharan's estranged wife, Deepthi, who is a lawyer. Jagathy Sreekumar and Narain are cops while Roma is a singer.

The cinematographer is Vinod Illampilly and the music director is Deepak Dev.

Mallu Singh

Director: Vysakh

Cast: Unni Mukundan, Kunchacko Boban, Samvritha Sunil

Prithviraj was initially to play the hero in Mallu Singh but when he couldn't make time for the film, he was replaced by Unni Mukundan.

The film is scripted by Sethu of the erstwhile Sachi-Sethu duo, and directed by Vysakh, who hopes that this one too becomes a hit like his earlier ventures, Pokkiri Raja and Seniors.

Hari (Unni Mukundan) has left his village in Kerala some time back and his cousin Ani (Kunchacko Boban) goes in search of him. He learns there is a boy in Punjab who looks like Hari and leaves for Punjab.

Produced under the banner of Aan Megha Media, Mallu Singh is expected to be full of colour and entertainment, in true Vysakh style.

Shaji is behind the camera and M Jayachandran scores the music.

Diamond Necklace

Director: Lal Jose

Cast: Fahadh Faasil, Samvritha Sunil

The film directed by Lal Jose is about a young doctor and three women who come into his life. The script is by Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram. The film has been shot extensively in Dubai.

After his huge success in 22 Female Kottayam, Fahadh Faasil plays the lead role of Arun Kumar, the doctor living in Dubai. Fashion designer Maya (Samvritha Sunil), Tamilian nurse Lakshmi (Gauthami Nair) and dance teacher Rajasree (Anusree Nair) are the three women who are close to the doc.

The cinematography is by Sameer Thahir and Vidyasagar is the music director.
