The 14th Mumbai Film Festival, organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI), was inaugurated on October 18 at the National Centre of Performing Arts (NCPA) on October 18 amidst much fanfare.

Robert De Niro starrer comedy-drama Silver Linings Playbook, the opening film, was introduced by Anupam Kher, who also stars in it.

English Vinglish actress Sridevi and Jaya Bachchan (not in the picture) lit the inaugural lamp.

MAMI chairman and filmmaker Shyam Benegal and his wife Nira were present at the opening ceremony.

Yesteryear actress Tina Ambani presented the lifetime acheivement award for foreign personalities to acclaimed Chinese actor-filmmaker Zhang Yimou.

Some of the films Yimou has worked on include House of Flying Daggers, Hero, Curse of The Golden Flower and Raise the Red Lantern.

Manisha Koirala, who recently made her comeback with Ram Gopal Varma's Bhoot Returns and Shahana Goswami also attended the ceremony.
