R Madhavan: Vishwaroopam deserves a release

Several actors have condemned the Tamil Nadu statement government for banning the release of Kamal Haasan's new film Vishwaroopam.

R Madhavan tweeted: 'My Anbu Tamil Makkale. We have been one of the most secular states ever. Let not that ever be snatched from us. Vishwaroopam deserves a release. Support it like our freedom, in all forms, depends on it.What are v if we are not free n creative freedom is every tamilians birth right. Kamal sir is our asset and Pride.How can we let this man down. If the release is 15 days later then so be it. We will wait with bated breath. And fill the shows then to the brim. This will be a landmark film in more than one ways.'

Shabana Azmi wrote: 'Supreme court ruled in case of Aakarshan that no film passed by CBFC can be banned by state govt so how can kamalhasans film b banned? Its unacceptable for a handful of protestors to hold a film's release at ransom. Its d State's business to protect its own certificate.'

Pritish Nandy tweeted: 'My heart goes out to Kamal Haasan. This banning nonsense must stop.'

Kamal's daughter Shruti Haasan updated: 'Vishwaroopam awaits judicial determination on the 26th of January in Tamil Nadu.The film will release everywhere else tomorrow.'

While Shah Rukh Khan topped the inaugural Forbes India Celebrity 100 list, Amitabh Bachchan was recently honoured with the India's Prime Icon of 2012 award at CBS/BigFm awards function.

Amitabh joked about his punctuality. 'Reached venue on time at 7 pm, and no one there .. !! Story of my life .. so did a mock speech, mock award receipt and mock left !' he added.

Subhash Ghai has zeroed down on Bengali girl Mishti for his comeback film Kaanch

Mukta Arts Ltd shared her picture and tweeted: ''Mishti', the girl who will play the lead in @subhashghai1 's Kaanchi.'  

Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan, who were last seen together in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, will be sharing screen once again in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. The film will be directed by Punit Malhotra of I Hate Luv Storys fame.

Karan Johar, who produces the film, tweeted: 'Punit malhotra directs his next for Dharma after #IHLS with Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor...."Gori tere pyaar mein"....will start 1st march!'
