Bollywood's ODD couples

Unconventional pairing is in.

Quite a few upcoming movies have couples we have never seen together earlier, and in some cases, not really expected to be cast together.

We take a look.

Sanjay Dutt - Prachi Desai (Policegiri)

He is 53. She is in her mid-20s. There is a gap of quarter of a century between them.

Now, they will be seen together in Policegiri

This isn't a romantic film, which means the age difference between them can still be taken in one's stride.

Sunny Deol - Kangna Ranaut (I Love New Year)

Directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru's I Love New Year will see the pairing of Sunny Deol, 56, and Kangna Ranaut, 26.

Interestingly, Kangna started her career (2006) at a time when Sunny had already completed more than three decades in the industry.

One hears that the story of this romcom, set in New York, justifies the coming together of this unconventional pair.

Kangna Ranaut - Rajkumar Yadav (Queen)

The only similarity one can draw between Kangna and Rajkumar Yadav is their humble origins.

While Kangna has quite a few hits behind her, Yadav is still finding his way in the industry. His work in Love, Sex Aur Dhokha and Kai Po Che has, however, won him a lot of fans lately.

In Queen, Kangna and Yadav play husband and wife.

Sunny Deol - Amrita Rao (Singh Saheb The Great)

Like Sanjay Dutt and Prachi Desai, Sunny Deol and Amrita Rao also have a 25 year age difference between them. They have been brought together by director Anil Sharma in Singh Saheb The Great.

Deol and Rao do not find themselves in a romantic rendezvous, and one understands that their on-screen relationship is strictly platonic.

Naseeruddin Shah - Madhuri Dixit (Dedh Ishqiya)

Vidya Balan's on-screen partner Naseeruddin Shah in Ishqiya has moved on to another leading lady, Madhuri Dixit, for the film's sequel Dedh Ishqiya.

Being mature could well be the mantra here as experience, pun intended, would definitely count in this Vishal Bhardwaj production that is expected to be high on sexual connotations as well.

This film could well dilute the horrors of Gaja Gamini and Rajkumar where they had come together earlier.

Salman Khan - Sana Khan & Daisy Shah (Mental)

Salman Khan's ladies in Mental -- Sana Khan and Daisy Shah -- look very good opposite him, even though they're much younger.

Will they play second fiddle to Tabu, who is said to be enjoying a prominent place in the Sohail Khan-directed affair? Let's wait and watch.

Emraan Hashmi - Kareena Kapoor (Balaji - Dharma Next)

Not many were sure if this 'jodi' would actually be seen together ever.

In Emraan's own words, not many filmmakers were willing to touch him with a barge pole five years back. Well, the tables have turned, and how, as the leading superstar Kareena Kapoor would be seen alongside Emraan in no less than an Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar production.

Insiders inform that like the pairing, the subject is also something that has never been explored before in a Hindi film.
