After Rakhi Sawant, it’s Mallika Sherawat’s turn to find love on national television with her new show, The Bachelorette India: Mere Khayalon ki Mallika.

This show is a spin-off from the American reality dating game show. It revolves around a single woman and a pool of romantic interests, who try to impress her.

“There is no promise of marriage,” says Mallika, at a promotional event of the show in Mumbai. “I don’t want to make false promises. I want to find love.”

“It is about the journey and not the destination. I live in a world of glitz and glamour and make believe. I want normalcy in life. That’s why you will see actresses getting married to doctors and businessmen," Mallika adds.

The actress revealed that she was lonely in life and was looking for a companion.

“I will not marry anyone from the field of entertainment. I will not marry a married man. I will marry a normal man even if he doesn’t earn more than me," she said.

Mallika, who sang Happy Birthday to Narendra Modi, claims that he’s the perfect bachelor, and would do anything for him!

"I am a hopelessly romantic girl. I like him (Narendra Modi). I am not interested in Rahul Gandhi," Mallika claims.

'I am not acting on the show. Nothing is scripted'

Mallika often visits Los Angeles for work but does not want to marry a foreigner.

"I go there for work. It is good to work there as they are technologically advanced than us. You learn from them. But they lack in human relations and emotions. I would marry someone from here (India),” she says.

How much drama can we expect for this show? "It is a reality show. So whatever happens on the dates will be all real on the show. Nothing is scripted. We have not created anything falsely. I am not acting on the show," she says.

Has she dated anyone before being a part of showbiz? “I had a boyfriend, a serious courtship for three-four years. He supported me when I came to Mumbai. After I told him I was joining films, he became insecure. Then he started cheating on me because I was in Mumbai and he was in Delhi.

"He got engaged without telling me. Actually, he gave me an ultimatum to choose either him or films. If you truly love someone, how can you give an ultimatum?” Mallika asks.

'I felt like Empress Mumtaz when I visited the Taj Mahal on a date!'

Mallika brought a goat to the press conference, which had apparently been gifted to her by one of her suitors.

Other gifts included a tin of desi ghee and a DVD player with a pre-recorded message from a 13-year-old boy saying, ‘I hope you like my dad.’

But what really swept Mallika off her feet was a man, who took her on a date to see the Taj Mahal in Agra. “On that day, I felt like Empress Mumtaz!” she exclaims.

'Through this show, people will get to see my emotional and sensitive side'

There are reports that Mallika has charged Rs 30 crores for the show. She doesn’t confirm or deny. “I cannot lie,” she says mysteriously.

“I have been shown as a bold and glamorous girl. Through this show, people will get to see my emotional and sensitive side. I want to do roles where I can perform and show my acting skills. Unfortunately, I am not getting any interesting offers,” she adds.

The Bachelorette India: Mere Khayalon ki Mallika will go on air on October 7 on Life Ok.
